Payroll Specialist

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills and experience with various payroll systems. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the efficiency of our payroll operations while supporting our HR team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee compensation.
  • Maintain and update payroll records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate employee data management within the HRIS.
  • Perform reconciliations of payroll accounts and assist in general ledger accounting tasks.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Provide support for audits related to payroll and financial reporting.
  • Assist in the implementation of new payroll systems or upgrades, including Paychex, ADP, or Kronos.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related issues and provide guidance as needed.
  • Stay current on changes in payroll regulations and best practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role, with a strong understanding of payroll processes and financial concepts.
  • Proficiency in payroll software such as Paychex, ADP, or QuickBooks; familiarity with Kronos is a plus.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and human resources functions.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with the ability to perform general ledger accounting tasks.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations is essential.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred but not required.
