Position Title: Collections Specialist Location: Flexible Hourly Rate: $15-25 an hour based on experience
Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our team. In this position, the primary responsibility will be to manage the collection of outstanding payments from customers after their fence or deck installation is complete. You will work directly with customers to address any payment issues, assist in payment plan arrangements, and ensure all payments are processed in a timely manner. The role requires strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to resolve issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
· Collections Management: Monitor and manage outstanding invoices for completed projects, ensuring timely payment collection.
· Customer Communication: Reach out to customers with outstanding balances via phone, email, or written correspondence, addressing any payment issues or discrepancies.
· Payment Negotiation: Work with customers to establish payment plans or resolve disputes that may prevent timely payments.
· Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all customer communications, payments, and follow-up actions in the company's financial system.
· Dispute Resolution: Investigate payment discrepancies and resolve issues in a professional and effective manner to avoid delays in payment.
· Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, operations, and finance teams to ensure all payment details are accurate and up-to-date.
· Reporting: Provide regular reports on collections progress, aging accounts, and any ongoing payment issues to management.
· Compliance: Ensure all collections activities are conducted in compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in finance or accounting preferred.
· Previous experience in a collections, customer service, or finance role, preferably in the construction or home improvement industry.
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with accounting software a plus.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Knowledge of collections laws and regulations is a plus.
Clock-In/Out System: All employees are required to clock in and out using the designated timekeeping system. Employees must clock out if they leave the office or warehouse during the workday.
