Deck installation and repair should be left to the professionals. This includes people who used to be professional construction workers. The most important thing to remember when installing a deck is that it must be kept up to code. Granted, you can look up what is required for a deck to be up to code, but it's the ability to take that knowledge and then turn it into a fully fledged deck that is the hard part. If you have any doubts in your mind whether or not you can actually build it I would recommend leaving it to the professionals.
